CPS Zoo

CPS has an AMAZING program through the science department. It is called CPS Zoo!  Each week we get a brand new stuffed animal sent to us in the mail. Every week, we get to spend that week learning about that animal. Getting our new animal is one of the highlights of our week. We have learned so much!

On Monday, when our animal arrives, we get to read the clues on the outside of the box and try to guess our animal. Our lion says ROARRRRR!!!!

Along with our animal, we get books about the animal, learning links and a tape measure to see how big our animal is in real life. A lion is the length of about two first graders! Wow!!

Usually we are able to find a live camera that we can watch! We've watched elephants at the San Diego Zoo, lions at the National Zoo and stingrays at the Georgia Aquarium! As we do our research, we make sure to put all of our facts into our CPS Zoo Animal Research Notebook. This will be a great collection of animal facts at the end of the year.

Each week we get to learn how to draw our animal too! Here is one of our lions.

Here are a few more of our adventures with the CPS Zoo.
